Why I support MHC and why you should join me...

Mental Health Connecticut (MHC) has been around for 115 years (this May) making it the longest standing mental health nonprofit organization in the US. If any organization can be trusted to be a steward of your hard earned money to better our communities right here in Connecticut - it's MHC. I wouldn't be an annual donor nor would I have worked here for the last eight years if I didn't believe in the mission and see the impact we make everyday. We serve, support, and advocate for individuals with severe and persistent mental health conditions and/or cooccurring substance use conditions. We educate the community on the importance of mental health. We partner with individuals, families, and communities to create environments that support long-term health and wellness.

Every single one of us - no matter if you are struggling or flourishing - we all need to treat our mental health at the same level of importance as our physical health. Self care, community healing, access to the affirming and culturally appropriate care, support systems to help you navigate your mental health journey - all of these things are important to a healthy and fulfilling life. We all deserve this yet some of us are still struggling. Some of us need help.

As of April 19, 2023, the state budget is only planning on a 1% increase to support community nonprofits. With a 6.5% inflation this year, that's a 5.5% budget cut to our services. The following year plan is a 0% increase. Without the help of you - our community - MHC and other nonprofits will be forced to make hard decisions when it comes to how many people we can serve, what programs can continue to be funded, and what resources we can provide.

Let's take our power, let's face this obstacle, and let's make a difference!

Donate today to help MHC continue serving our community.
