Stigma is "an attribute that is deeply discrediting" that reduces someone "from a whole and usual person to a tainted, discounted one." - Stigma: Notes on the Management of Spoiled Identity, Goffman (1963)

The and the cite stigma as a key barrier to mental health care, including seeking and sustaining participation in services. Eradicating the stigma and social distancing of individuals with a mental health condition must be a top priority in order to improve worldwide mental health.

On Saturday, May 4, join us for an afternoon of competitive axe throwing where we will be "Chopping Down Stigma" to benefit Mental Health Connecticut and their mission of improving mental health for all Connecticut.

In celebration of Mental Health Month, this is just one of many events and activities that will bring us together, promote necessary conversations about mental health, and raise funds for a great cause as MHC sets out to host 31 Days of Wellness in May! (Details on all 31 Days will be shared in April, so stay tuned!)

Registration is $40, which includes admission, guided axe throwing, food, and desserts. There is a cash bar for beer, wine, and non alcoholic beverages and there will be some awesome prizes you can win with the purchase of a drawing ticket ($1 per ticket).

Sign up as an individual or create your own team of 6! Those who register as an individual or less than a group of 6, will be assigned to a team during the event. At the event, each team will compete for a special grand prize and the title of "MHC's Stigma Chopping Champion."

**This event is open to all individuals over the age of 10. Any minor must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and all participants must sign a waiver with the venue upon arrival. Closed toe shoes are required.**
